Last week a friend of mine an Anesthesiologist friend of mine was on TV discussing how in the US the opiods abuse has created a huge crisis. I was searching the web for statistics about this subject and I found a 2017 report published by the United Nations Office on drugs and crime that shows that the US indeed has the highest mortality rate related to drugs by far. Those deaths are related mainly to Opiods so the public discussion about this subject is definitely worth it.

Yesterday before I boarded the plane, I noticed the sky was just beautiful with an amazing summer sunset. I started to climb the stairs and just before I entered the aircraft I was able to snap this quick shot throught a narrow gap in the door. Sometimes the light, time, station and weather is perfect for a picture like this.

Some weeks ago when I finished working, I was about to leave the building and I saw in the wall a sheet of paper with information about a vue.js meetup here in Berlin. I thought I have never heard about this vue.js and the more I read, the more interested I became into this front-end javascript framework.

Google Search trends show vue.js has been the post popular framework in the last 12 months. Vue.js is self described as "a progressive framework for building user interfaces. Unlike other monolithic frameworks, Vue is designed from the ground up to be incrementally adoptable". I gave it a go and it's quite interesting.

Currently there is a heat wave named Lucifer that's brining scorching hot temperatures to sourthern and central europe. Maybe that's the reason why Eurostat published some days ago statistics about the largest producers of Ice cream in the continent. It's not surprising that the "Gelato" country is on top of the list, but I was surprised to learn Germany was the second one in the rankings.

Last night my colleagues joined me in a walk to the city center of Krakow, where I wanted to look for a present at the old city market. There were flocks of tourists in the old town, but on the other hand the weather was quite pleasant so it was nice to walk around.
